Webcams

These images are provided to enable the community to view environmental data alongside imagery collected by onsite automated cameras. Most images are updated hourly, but the frequency may increase during extreme weather events.

Click on any image to see a larger, most-recent image. The time of the most-recent image can be seen below each image.

Hawke's Bay Regional Council also uses this information for flood monitoring, stream health and asset management. The number of cameras available on this page will grow as we add existing and new cameras to our network.

Webcam FAQs

The webcams are updated every hour to keep you informed with fresh visuals. The feed cannot continuously show 'live' footage due to technical constraints. During significant weather events, the update frequency can increase to every 15 minutes for more detailed monitoring.

Hawke's Bay Regional Council use information captured from the cameras for flood monitoring, stream health and asset management.

All monitoring and use of footage is carried out in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993. Anonymised data is collected to assist with immediate responses and to help with evidence-based planning to improve the environment and our safety.

Recorded footage is stored for on average 26 days before being overwritten.

Our highly-trained data engineers and scientists use the cameras to monitor any weather incidents or situations arising where people may be at risk, and work with Police, outreach services and other partners.
