At the beginning my internship was more focused on practical tasks, following drilling projects recording data during a pumping test, analysing the samples during the drilling or even doing some water sampling for analysis, or even taking part of the replacement of corroded pipes. Moreover I work on the seismical electrical survey to determinate where people could find water. In the meantime I was doing some research on what a sea groundwater discharge is, how to find it and what has already been done on this project before in the Hawke’s Bay region. It offered me the opportunity to work with several people: Luke Dysart driller from the company who were helping me on the boat in the technical aspect, Pawel Rakowski hydrogeologist at the Hawke’s Bay regional council who helped me to analyse the data, giving me really useful advice and supplied me with other data when needed. I really want to thank them and all the other people I had the opportunity and the chance to work with; Russell Baylis who hosted me for this internship, Steve Manning who was my tutor and that helped me to discover the region and all the other members of Baylis Brothers. I was really pleased to work in this company during my five months internship.
