Notice of Intended Drone Operation

Update 21 May 2024: Due to weather conditions yesterday's drone survey did not take place. This work will be rescheduled - the new date will be published on our website and our Facebook page.

Hawke's Bay Regional Council is undertaking drone survey work to collect images and information to assist with planning and design of the potential flood mitigation scheme for Pōrangahau. This imagery will be used for inform the flood modelling projects and will not be provided to any other party other than Hawke's Bay Regional Council.

We have engaged engineering firm WSP NZ to do this work, which will take place during daylight hours on Monday 20 May (weather dependent). All WSP NZ operations are conducted under the authority of a Part 102 Unmanned Aircraft Operator Certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand. All WSP pilots hold a current pilot certificate. (WSP NZ Unmanned Aircraft Operators Certificate number 87874).
