Environmental Data Analyst (FEMP)

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is looking for an Environmental Data Analyst to join our Integrated Catchment Management Group. The role would require you to provide technical and administrative support to both internal and external stakeholders associated with our Farm & Environmental Management Plan (FEMP). The data collated in this role helps to review policy effectiveness, provide information for regulatory purposes, and aids in the achievement of the HBRC strategic objectives associated with environmental improvement. The successful candidate will work with teams across the council and contribute to the establishment of processes and practices for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on FEMP effectiveness. This is a permanent, fulltime role. 

About the Opportunity:

 The key objectives of the role are to:

  • Coordinate, verify and validate data provided by FEMP stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop data processes and perform spatial analysis on data.
  • Identify areas for data quality improvement and resolve data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection, correction, process control and process design strategies
  • Identify key FEMP stakeholders and build positive relationships.
  • Assist in the development of Industry Good Practice.

 About you:

 The successful candidate will ideally possess and demonstrate the following competencies:

  • At least two years post qualification experience in environmental data management or in the provision of primary sector related technical advice.
  • Specialist knowledge of GIS mapping.
  • Excellent standard of written and verbal communication, with an ability to engage with people from a range of backgrounds.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills.

The salary range for this role will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
