Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is seeking applications for a Senior Investigator to join the Compliance Team. The role of Senior Investigator has been created to ensure an appropriate level of enforcement is undertaken and that any enforcement activities are robust, defensible and an effective option. 

About the Opportunity

The key objectives of the role are:

  • The management and oversight of enforcement cases.
  • Investigation into serious breaches of the legislation.
  • To ensure investigations and evidence collection is maintained to a high standard and is compliant with the Evidence Act 2006.
  • Initiate and undertake enforcement proceedings.
  • Provide support to other operational staff throughout the council who may administer enforcement.
  • Contribute to the Quality Management System.

About you

The successful candidate will ideally possess and demonstrate the following competencies:

  • High standard of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in planning and undertaking complex Investigation and enforcement processes and providing support and coaching to less experienced staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of Resource Management Act 1991 and associated regulations (including National Environmental Standards and Maritime Pollution regulations).
  • Evidence collection and incident investigation skills.

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $92,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
