Public Consultation

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s Annual Plan consultation document is available for public feedback from Monday 8 June until Sunday
28 June 2020.

Hawke’s Bay people have been affected personally and financially by COVID-19 and the drought. The Regional Council now proposes a climate smart Annual Plan in response to the challenges faced by our community and to limit impacts on our economy. All the information is at hbrc.govt.nz, search: #ourplan, at council offices and public libraries.

There are two proposals for the public to consider:

Rates Approach
This year, there can be some relief to ratepayers through the Council’s approach to rates charges and cushioning the impact of COVID-19. The Council proposes to keep the rates revenue at the same level as 2019-20 and borrow the required funding – a 0% rates revenue increase.

The Establishment of a Recovery Fund
The Council also proposes to establish a $1 million Recovery Fund to make the best use of potential government co-funding into Council capital projects. These projects would support jobs and economic activity while enhancing Hawke’s Bay’s environment.
