Hawke's Bay people are being asked to comment on two proposals included in the Regional Council's 'Climate. Smart. Recovery.' consultation document.
Hawke’s Bay’s Regional Council is focused on supporting a climate smart recovery to address the economic challenges facing the region from both COVID-19 and the drought, and to cushion the effects of these events on the regional community.
The two topics being consulted on as a part of this year's 2020-21 Annual Plan are the approach to rates, and a potential recovery fund.
The rates approach topic asks whether or not to proceed with the 7.3% rates increase or keep the rates at the current level (a 0% rates increase), or proceed with half the planned rates increase at 3.6%. The 0% rates increase is the Council's preferred option.
The recovery fund topic asks whether or not to establish a $1 million recovery fund to add to any central government funding and accelerate planned Council projects that encourage growth. Establishing the recovery fund is the Council's preferred option.
The 2020-21 Annual Plan consultation document, submission info and other ways for the community to comment are at hbrc.govt.nz, search: #ourplan.
