Technical Advisor Water Information Services (Vacancy 19-288)

Hawke's Bay Regional Council (HBRC) is the regional authority for the Hawke's Bay region in New Zealand with key roles in environmental management and education; flood control, drainage, pollution, waste, land, water and coastal management. Supporting approximately 160,000 residents, Council's vision is to enable a healthy environment, a vibrant community and a prosperous economy. 

About the opportunity:

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is looking for a positive minded person with relevant experience and ideally, tertiary qualifications, to assist with establishing ‘best practice’ water efficiency within the primary sector as well as initiating and supporting appropriate water research and new initiatives.

Experience with Hilltop software and GIS will be distinct advantages as will experience with web based capture tools. You will be targeting education among consent holders and working to improve their knowledge, particularly where there have been breaches of conditions, as well as encouraging the use of quality data to improve efficiency. Developing and maintaining effective relationships with consent holders is key to the success of this role.

The salary range for suitable candidates that meet the requirements for this role is $63,360 - $71,808 depending on qualifications and experience.

About you:

You will need a good understanding of water resource management and detailed knowledge of recent irrigation developments.

• Relevant experience, providing a sound understanding of farming systems and rural issues, particularly those associated with irrigation.
• An understanding of Resource Management.
• High level of Microsoft office and computer skills.
• A clean full driver’s licence.
• Have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
