Hawke's Bay Regional Council (HBRC) is the regional authority for the Hawke's Bay region in New Zealand with key roles in environmental management and education; flood control, drainage, pollution, waste, land, water and coastal management. About the opportunity:

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council are looking for an experienced Senior Group Accountant to effectively manage key financial management and reporting functions for the organisation. This will include performance and delivery of financial and statutory reporting while embodying a culture of continuous improvement. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer you will be the in-house technical expert supporting the business with taxation, forecasting and financial management. You will manage the external audit process ensuring accurate and timely compliance, providing financial input into the strategic planning process for the Annual and Long Term Plan financials.

The salary range for suitable candidates who meet the requirements for this role is $103,680 - $117,504 depending on qualifications and experience.

About you:

This is a busy and challenging position for a professional chartered accountant with at least 5 years senior financial management experience.

Specifically you will have;

• Professional Chartered Accountant Qualification.
• At least 5 years Senior Financial Management experience.
• Local Government experience is desirable.
• Highly developed report writing skills.
• Expert level excel and computer skills.
• A clean full driver’s licence. 
• Have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
