About the opportunity:

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Advisor Māori Partnerships to provide comprehensive advice and support to Council regarding Te Ao Māori, policy development and Tāngata Whenua engagement. The successful candidate will provide input into the development and review of a cultural monitoring framework, provide advice for the Regional Planning and Māori Committee and ensure the cultural impact of policy proposals are understood and considered. You will have a relevant Tertiary qualification, in-depth understanding of the Resource Management and Local Government Acts, strong knowledge of te reo me ōna tikanga (Māori language, customs and protocols), excellent report writing and project management skills. As part of a small team with high deliverables, you will need to be highly engaged and agile in the workplace. You will have excellent people skills and an ability to service multiple work streams across Council.

The salary range for this role is $88,830 – 100,674 depending on qualifications and experience.

About you:

 In depth knowledge of Te Reo me ōna tikanga

• High level understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi
• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• In depth understanding of the Resource Management and Local Government Acts.
• High level of Microsoft office and computer skills.
• A clean full driver’s licence. 
• Have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
