About the opportunity:

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s Compliance Team are looking for an Environmental Compliance Officer to monitor environmental resource consents issued by the Regional Council, follow up and reporting. On occasion the role will involve evidence gathering, investigation of offending, interviewing and preparation of case files for Court. The main focus of this role involves monitoring compliance of forestry activities with the National Environment Standards for Plantation Forestry and in this regard you will be working on behalf of the Hastings District Council also in looking at its monitoring obligations under the National Environmental Standards Plantation Forestry (NESPF). In this role you may be rostered onto an after-hours pollution response roster.

The salary range for this role is $69,210 - $78,438 depending on qualifications and experience.

About you:

Ideally you will have monitoring experience in resource management, forestry or a related field.

• Previous enforcement/monitoring experience desirable.
• Good relationship building skills.
• A relevant tertiary degree.
• High level of Microsoft office and computer skills.
• A clean full driver’s licence. 
• Experience with conflict resolution.
