We’re looking for an Environmental Science Technician to bring their skills and expertise to our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll contribute professionally to key functions, helping our environmental information section achieve its goals.

As an Environmental Science Technician, you’ll

• Collect and Analyse Environmental Data: Use your specialised scientific expertise to gather high-quality data for freshwater and marine State of Environment (SoE) programmes, research, and investigations, ensuring accurate methods and procedures are followed.
• Plan and Execute Monitoring Activities: Take charge of scheduling, planning, and implementing monitoring activities for water quality and ecological surveys, making critical on-site decisions to solve problems and deliver top-notch results.
• Apply Technical Expertise: Leverage your independent, specialised technical knowledge to diagnose issues, propose solutions, and manage data collection, processing, and reporting, all in line with quality standards and project timelines.

About you | E pā ana ki a koe:

To excel in this role, you'll hold a relevant tertiary degree in Biology, Ecology, or Environmental Science, along with a valid driver’s licence. Competency in driving a 4WD vehicle and experience working in and around water are advantageous. Key skills include proficiency in MS Office and environmental databases, familiarity with field monitoring techniques, and strong analytical abilities. You will be a safety-conscious team player with sound judgement, excellent planning and organisational skills, and an ability to adapt to change. Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are essential to succeed in this dynamic role.

The salary range for this role is between $73,780 to $89,317 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
