Technical Advisor - Water Information Service - Vacancy no 16-831

Are you highly motivated? Have great ‘people skills’ and want to make a significant difference in water sustainability in Hawke’s Bay?

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is looking for a positive minded person with relevant experience and ideally, tertiary qualifications, to assist with establishing ‘best practice’ water efficiency within the primary sector as well as initiating and supporting appropriate water research and new initiatives.

Applicants will need a good understanding of water resource management and detailed knowledge of recent irrigation developments. This role is part of the Water Information Services section of Council which collates, stores and displays data for consents holders and other end users.

Experience with Hilltop software and GIS will be distinct advantages as will experience with web based capture tools. You will be targeting education among consent holders and working to improve their knowledge, particularly where there have been breaches of conditions, as well as encouraging the use of quality data to improve efficiency. Developing and maintaining effective relationships with consent holders is key to the success of this role.
