About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:
We are looking for a Scientist – Marine and Coast to join the Environmental Science team. This team provides the scientific expertise which support the goals and objectives of Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s Annual and Long-Term Plan, and technical support to help safeguard our marine environment for future generations.
Working in a dynamic team environment, this role is varied and motivating. The role would suit a marine scientist who is keen to apply their skills to deliver the information needed to make good decisions for our marine and coastal area.

You will be passionate about our marine environment and looking to join a forward thinking, high delivering team.
The successful candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification, experience in delivering science projects to meet the needs of diverse audiences and excellent analytical, report writing and project management skills. As part of a small team with high expectations, you will need to be highly engaged, have excellent people skills and an ability to service multiple work streams across Council.
Ideally you will also have:
Experience within resource management is preferred and delivering excellent science in an engaging and clear way is essential.
