Senior Catchment Advisor – HCE Project Management (fixed term)

We're seeking a skilled Senior Catchment Advisor to join our Integrated Catchment Management team on a fixed-term basis. This role focuses on managing the Hawke's Bay Hill Country Erosion Project and implementing the Erosion Control Scheme. You'll play a crucial part in promoting sustainable land management practices and addressing catchment-specific land and soil issues.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and supporting the implementation of the Hawke's Bay Hill Country Erosion Fund
• Creating and executing project plans with effective budget management
• Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Primary Industries and Gisborne District Council
• Working closely with landowners and community groups to facilitate environmental solutions
• Providing high-quality advice on improving farm practices to achieve catchment, economic, environmental, and social outcomes

As a Senior Catchment Advisor, you will work closely with the Catchment Operations team and report to the Catchment Management Lead –  Central. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in sustainable land management and make a difference in the Hawke's Bay region.

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications, experience, and attributes:

• A relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in environmental science, agriculture, or a related field.
• Experience in sustainable land management, catchment management, or a similar role in a relevant industry.
• Strong knowledge of soil erosion processes, mitigation strategies, and the sources and pathways of sediment, nutrient, and bacterial contamination from farming systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including landowners, community groups, and internal teams.

You should also be adaptable and open to performing other duties as assigned to support the Council's goals and objectives. The salary range for this role is between $89,640 to $99,600 dependant on your level of qualification and experience.
