About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to join our Catchment Team. This is a 18 month fixed term opportunity (maternity cover) based in Wairoa. The Catchment Teams are located in three zones across the Hawke’s Bay Region; Wairoa-Mohaka, Central & the Tukituki-Southern Coasts. A vital role within Council, the Catchment Advisors regularly engage with the community and landowners to promote and facilitate sustainable land use and practices across a broad range of activities.

 

About you | E pā ana ki a koe:

We need a motivated and enthusiastic person who can hit the ground running in this busy and dynamic role! We are seeking an individual who is solution focussed, who is familiarised with primary sector and understanding of natural resource management. The successful candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification or relevant experience, a strong affinity with landowners, the rural sector and a good understanding of primary industry issues. Your strong knowledge of land based farming systems, the Resource Management Act, soil and nutrient management will enable you to work collaboratively with the community to educate and ensure landowners understand industry best practice.

 

You will also have:

  • a relevant tertiary qualification or significant experience in this industry
  • strong observational and analytical skills
  • knowledge of financial reporting systems and requirements
  • sound understanding of tikanga Māori and Māori values
  • have a clean and full driver’s licence.
