Catchment Advisor - Hill Country erosion (fixed term 5 years)

About the Opportunity:

Hawke's Bay Regional Council (HBRC) has a Catchment Advisor - Hill Country Erosion [Fixed Term] position ending 30 June 2027, based in HBRC's Wairoa Office. The role's focus is to provide soil conservation advice, undertake erosion control plan preparation and support for erosion control works. You will promote and provide access to financial support for landowners to undertake sustainable land management practices and initiatives to reduce sediment in our waterways.

About you:

 You will be an excellent communicator, have a sound understanding of farming systems, sustainable land management practices and rural issues.

• A relevant tertiary qualification or at least 3+ years relevant experience.
• An understanding of the rural community and agri-sector.
• Ideally have some experience with ArcGIS.
• High level of Microsoft office and computer skills.
• A clean full driver’s licence. 
• Have the legal right to work in New Zealand.

The salary range for this role depends on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
