Project Manager - Policy & Planning

About the Opportunity:

We need an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of Kotahi over the next 3 years. Kotahi is the Hawke’s Bay Regional Councils resource management plan which is currently under development.  This combines the Regional Policy Statement, Regional Resource Management Plan and Regional Coastal Environment Plan. This is a 3 year fixed term role.

As project manager, you will drive the project and various stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes by applying a high level of organisation, accountability and exceptional communication skills. You will be working closely with the Policy & Planning Team to ensure the project is delivered on time and meets its objectives. Engagement and collaboration across the wider HBRC staff will be vital to your success in the role.

The key objectives of the role are:

  • Take responsibility for the coordination of inputs, setting of deadlines, assignment of responsibilities, as well as the monitoring and summarising of project progress. 
  • Provide effective project reporting, information flow and communication with various stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Develop project schedules and activities in support of project requirements and develop cost and financial documentation for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate regular meetings and workshops to meet the needs of the various providers.

 Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • At least 5 years project management knowledge and experience, particularly in relation to managing quality outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship management, facilitation and networking skills with a strong ability to influence and provide advice.
  • Proven ability to coordinate tasks and work programmes across a variety of teams and professional disciplines (including technical subject matter experts).
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and work within budgets.
  • Understanding of Policy or Local Government would be an advantage.

The salary range for this role will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. HBRC has a strong commitment to developing and upskilling people within a flexible and supportive working environment.
