At Hawke’s Bay Regional Council our purpose is to work with our community to protect and manage the region’s precious taonga of rivers, lakes, soils, air, coast and biodiversity for health, wellbeing and connectivity. Our organisation is diverse and our work is varied. Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

 

About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Rates Officer to join our Finance team, which is responsible for the overall financial functions of Hawke’s Bay Regional Council.

The Rates Officer is responsible for processing and reconciling payments and financial transactions, and through a wide range of activities, contributes to the maintenance and integrity of the rates database. Within the rates team, the Rates Officer responds to information requests and queries from ratepayers and other industry groups.

About you:

You will be experienced in providing excellence in customer service, a great listener, and a clear communicator.  You will be resilient under pressure, and able to work flexibly within a team environment.  Your attention to detail is second to none, and this is reflected in the accuracy of your work.

Ideally you will also have:

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite – highly competent in Excel.
  • Experience in creating tailored reports and analysing data.
  • A high level of literacy and numeracy.

The salary range for this role will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
