Latest update - October 2024

In October, we held a community hui at Omāhu Marae to discuss the project and our preferred solution. It was a great opportunity to gather feedback and answer questions.

We are currently in the planning phase, assessing existing options and exploring alternatives suggested by the community. Engagement with the community is vital, and we will continue this throughout November with a number of meetings and drop-in sessions planned. Additionally, we are establishing a Community Stakeholder Group to gather a range perspectives and provide input to the project.

We plan to begin stream maintenance work by the end of the year, including silt removal and constructing a temporary road, but this will only proceed after securing land and community consultation. This work is essential for managing stream flow during heavy rain, regardless of the proposed stopbank.

We remain committed to keeping you informed and are preparing a frequently asked questions document to share soon. For any questions or feedback, please contact us.
