Telemetry

Find information about our telemetry network, including the equipment we use, what we monitor, and where you can see the data we collect.

About our telemetry network

The Regional Council has telemetry sites all across the region. The equipment at these sites monitors and measures changes in our environment and climate.

All the information is sent from the field sites to our telemetry base by cell or radio. We are also able to continue to communicate the data by satellite at some sites.

Viewing the data

The data we collect is collated and is available online. The data goes back many years and can be accessed as tables, maps or charts. The information can be found on the Land, Air, Water, Aotearoa (LAWA) website, and on our environmental data pages.

Webcams

We also have a number of monitoring webcams set up across Hawke's Bay. These cameras are overlooking rivers and the cameras send regular images back to our Napier office. You can view these where you see this icon  on the tables on our environmental data pages. We monitor the rivers more regularly during weather events.
