Geotechnical Database HB

The Hawke’s Bay Regional Council and HB Civil Defence Emergency Management Group supports the New Zealand Geotechnical Database which has been developed for the use of professional geotechnical and structural engineers to access geotechnical data shared by other engineers and their clients, and to share their own data in return.

The pooling of geotechnical data will continue to facilitate a greater understanding of the distribution, variability and behaviour of the soils and sediments beneath Hawkes’ Bay, leading to better informed decision making regarding the use of the land, and assist with furthering scientific assessments, like the recent liquefaction risk review.

The database can be accessed here.   Users must register to access the database and can download or contribute geotechnical investigation data by entering basic metadata (RL, coordinates, date etc.) and uploading supporting files (Graphical log, Raw data, AGS4 data).

Natural Hazards Information & Resources

The Hawke’s Bay community needs to be aware of the hazard risks we live with daily, so that people and organisations can be prepared, and recover quickly from any disruption to their lives. You can find hazard information in the following locations:

  • http://www.hbemergency.govt.nz/hazards - summarises the hazards that put us at risk in future emergency events.
  • https://gis.hbrc.govt.nz/hazards/ - is an easy to use Hazards Information Portal that displays hazard map data and written information on properties in Hawke’s Bay – all you have to do is enter in an address.
  • The Regional Council Report Database holds a register of online hazard documents, research material, and publications from either the Regional Council or external organisations that are available to the public. You can filter by report name, topic, author, search term, year of publication etc.  If you know of a publication or document that should be included in this database, please email publication@hbrc.govt.nz with the details. Note: If the online document is sourced from an external website, you will be linked to that external website's publication.
