Variation 1 - Rivermouth Hazard Area Decisions
On 6 June 2012, the Hawke's Bay Regional Council issued its Decisions on Variation 1 which relates to the Rivermouth Hazard Areas in the Proposed Regional Coastal Environment Plan. This followed completion of the Hearing of submissions held in May 2012.
Council decisions address submissions on a topic by topic basis and provided reasons for each decision made.
Variation 1 concurrently removed and reintroduced rivermouth hazard areas as part of Coastal Hazard Zone 1 (“CHZ1”) in the Proposed Regional Coastal Environment Plan.
The purpose of Variation 1 was to create a process which gave a clear opportunity for potentially affected landowners to submit and debate the technical reasons for the rivermouth hazard area on their properties.
Variation 1 was publicly notified on 10 August 2010. The submission period was open for 21 working days and closed on 8 September 2010. 28 submissions were received in total.
Hearings were held in May 2012 to consider all submissions. The hearings gave submitters wishing to be heard, an opportunity to talk about their concerns and provide evidence in support of their submissions.
How Do I Find A Decision?
Council’s decisions and associated reasons are set out in the Decision Document. Decisions are generally grouped by common themes (or ‘topics’). Appendix 1 to the decision document contains a submitter index with corresponding decision number and page number.
If you know the submitter name and/or number, then look at the Submitter Index contained in Appendix 1 to the decision document to track down the corresponding Decision number. Then look up the Decision number in the Decision Document.
If you know the Decision, then you may refer directly to the corresponding Decision in the Decision Document.
