Navigation Safety Bylaw 2018

The Navigation Safety Bylaw 2018 ensures sports people and recreational users can safely enjoy their time in and on Hawke's Bay rivers and coastal waters.

The bylaw was open to public consultation in 2016-17 and adopted in 2018.  A few changes were required to keep the bylaw in line with legislation and safety practices.

A new regulation in the bylaw is for jetskis to be registered, which brings Hawke's Bay into line with other regions (registration details will be on this website in early Sept 2018).

For any advice or information on navigation safety in Hawke’s Bay waters please see our webpage or contact - The Harbourmaster, Hawke's Bay Regional Council, ph +6468334525 or +646835 9200 (or 0800 108 838) or
