The Works Group (a business unit of Council) is seeking suitable candidates with experience in spraying, tractor operation, excavator operation, and chainsaw operation,to join our Waipukurau team.
We are seeking a multi-skilled person with a broad range of skills who is competent in the use of chainsaws and tree felling and has experience in spraying and general construction works such as fencing, concrete placement and general carpentry.
Catchment Worker/Excavator Operator
Along with general Catchment Worker duties this role requires an experienced excavator operator who will be responsible for undertaking river and drainage maintenance, tree clearing, earthworks, and minor capital works throughout the CHB area.
Catchment Worker/Tractor Operator
Along with general catchment worker duties this role requires an experienced tractor operator with competence in the use of agrichemicals to carry out the Council’s annual weed control and mowing programme for flood protection purposes throughout the CHB area.
NZQA qualifications relating to any of the above including Chainsaw /tree felling, GrowSafe, and RTW would be an advantage.
- You must hold a clean current Class 1 license.
- A pre-employment drug test is a requirement for these positions.
Good documentation skills and an ability to communicate with a broad spectrum of people including land owners and Council Engineers is required. You shall be committed to safe work practices, have a positive attitude to health and safety, and be comfortable working independently, or in a team environment.
