Environmental Officer Compliance (Vacancy 18-940)

We are seeking a versatile person to join us as an Environmental Officer.  This position involves the monitoring of environmental resource consents issued by the Regional Council, follow up and reporting. On occasion the role will involve evidence gathering, investigation of offending, interviewing of suspects and preparation of files for appearance in the District Court.  The role may include an after-hours on call component.

A good understanding of relevant environmental issues that affect the Hawke’s Bay region and a proven ability to effectively deal with conflict is required. 

The successful person should have monitoring experience in resource management or a related field. A science based university qualification and/or previous experience in the enforcement field is desirable.  An ability to establish effective relationships with a wide range of people and organisations is essential.    Effective all round communication skills and the ability to manage appropriate computer based applications are also desired attributes.
