Approved FEMP Providers

They have demonstrated to HBRC that they can meet the necessary requirements and receive training from HBRC to ensure our standards continue to be met.  Each provider comes from a different background and you can chose who best suits your needs.

Leander Archer

Leander is a horticultural consultant at AgFirst. She specifically focusses on environmental management in horticultural properties and has experience with the Tukituki, TANK catchments and Horizons Region plan changes. She enjoys getting out meeting growers, and especially enjoys when she can help them understand how a mitigation can reduce their environmental impact and increase the long term economic viability of their business.

Briar is part of the Waipukurau-based Soter Rural Compliance team. Soter gives farms a local, practical, cost effective and HBRC Approved option for their Farm Environmental Management Plans. Briar has a Bachelor of Agriculture and extensive hands on experience working in the sheep, beef, dairy and deer industries. Prior to joining the Soter team, Briar worked as a shepherd on high country stations in the South Island.

Colin is the Principal Consultant-Environmental at Ravensdown. Colin grew up and still lives in rural Hawke’s Bay and believes that understanding farming and farmers is the key to helping them adjust to environmental regulations. In his view farm plans are a way for farmers to documenting the excellent environmental work they have already done while also demonstrating what they are willing to do in the future.

Courtney is originally from a sheep and beef farming background in the Manawatu which has instilled her passion for the agricultural sector. Courtney's aim is to better inform landowners of their role in on farm environmental sustainability, working with them to create solutions that meet environmental regulations, whilst ensuring business productivity is maximised into the future.

David is a farmer from Central Hawke’s Bay. He has a degree in Agriculture and has enjoyed furthering his academic career by completing a course in Advanced Sustainable Nutrient Management. He has been farming in Hawke’s Bay for over 25 years and is directly affected by Plan Change 6. David's knowledge, experience and practical approach enable him to provide competent Farm Environmental Management Plans with practical and realistic solutions.

Grant is a Senior Land Management Advisor with Rural Directions Advisory Services Limited, based in Hawkes Bay. Rural Directions has been operating throughout the primary sector since 2003 and expanded its offering in 2016 into Advisory Services.
Grant has been with the company since its inception. Prior to this he spent nine years within the fertiliser industry.

Grant specialises in farm environmental planning, soil fertility and pasture nutrition. Grant enjoys being able to translate scientific concepts into ideas that are easily understood through practices that achieve results. He finds this enables him to help benefit others in a way that adds value to their business.

Being a director, registered rural valuer and nutrient management consultant at Logan Stone Ltd, Jay is a rural property professional who wants to understand your property, and your property needs. Born and raised on a farm, and still involved with the family farming business, along with practicing as a rural valuer, Jay has a sound understanding of different farming systems and the requirement to work with farmers to ensure they get the best outcome possible not only from an environmental viewpoint but also from a financial and farm workability perspective. Jay is also a regional judge of the Ballance Farm Environmental awards, and was the 2015 winner of the Property Institute of New Zealand Young Property Professional of the Year.

Industry Groups are also playing a role in trying to help their levy payers meets the requirements around FEMPs by providing templates that can be used to help prepare a farm plan. This provides a lower (not no) cost option for completing an FEMP. This process is not appropriate for all types of farming operations, but if you are interested in exploring this option, please ring the contacts below to discuss it. Please note that for an FEMP to be acceptable to HBRC, a suitably qualified rural professional must visit your farm and confirm that your FEMP is fit for purpose. There is likely to be a cost associated with this.
