Enrolled to vote?

Election Orange Man

Hawke’s Bay’s councils and District Health Board are reminding voters that their enrolment details need to be correct to vote in the September/October local elections.

The electoral roll closes this month on 12 August.

Being correctly enrolled will ensure people are able to vote and will get their voting papers sent to the right address.

Electoral roll confirmations - in distinctive ‘orange man’ envelopes – were posted to all enrolled voters by early July.

If no changes are needed, voters need do nothing.  However to change details or enrol for the first time, people can send back the enrolment papers or go online to www.elections.org.nz. Electoral rolls can also be viewed at councils, and enrolments made at PostShops.

Anyone over the age of 18 can enrol to vote.  Teenagers with an 18th birthday after 12 August or anyone who has moved into a new ward or constituency will be able to apply at their local council for special voting papers ahead of election day on 8 October.

Candidates for Regional Council have until 12 noon on 12 August to get their nominations lodged.
