This integral role will see you leading HR initiatives across the organisation, driving the development of our greatest asset - our people – as they undertake meaningful and engaging work for our communities.  This role will require you to jump right in and add value across the full spectrum of human resources, playing a pivotal role in shaping our organisation's culture and driving employee engagement, development, and retention strategies. This is a highly collaborative role taking the lead in for ensuring that HBRC is an employer of choice in the Hawke’s Bay, with a reputation of being a great place to work. You will work closely with our Executive Leadership team at a strategic level to align people-focused initiatives to wider Council objectives, supporting our people leaders to embed a positive work culture, grounded in our values of transparency, excellence, partnership & collaboration, and accountability. About you | E pā ana ki a koe:

You will be a change champion, able to take others on the journey with you, explaining the ‘why’ and building positive engagement through your passionate and energetic approach. Your relationship skills will be second to none, always putting people first and delivering top-tier service. You will need to be resilient and adaptable, open to pivoting and reassessing your approach and ensuring it is fit for purpose. You will have proven leadership experience, generalist HR knowledge and a genuine desire to grow and develop your people. Communication is key to your success in this role, so an ability to tailor your style to fit the situation/person will serve you well.

Ideally you will also have:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management and/or Organisational Psychology
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HR /People and Capability, with at least one management role in a medium to large organisation.
  • Proven experience in HR management, with a focus on talent management, employee development, and organisational development.

The salary for this role will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
